When Worlds Collide
I'm trying to type quietly, because my wife is sleeping. I'm writing this note as I sit beside her, in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
What started as a nasty flu, left her in a weakened state. This allowed a mysterious bacteria - from something as simple as a cut - to invade her bloodstream.
It came on very fast. Within 48 hours she was almost gone. We almost lost her during a 10 hour battle in the emergency room.
A few days after the ordeal, Amy was in good spirits as she tried to whisper, "I look like a robot." (She had more tubes than a Borg from Star Trek.)
After days of antibiotics and tests, a blood culture revealed the bug. They were able to target it directly and knock it out.
Finally, we're out of the woods. She's in stable condition in the intensive care unit. Most of the tubes are out. She's on a liquid diet now.
Hopefully she'll go to a regular ward this week and then home, where I can look after her. The doctors don't expect any permanent scarring or damage, but it may take 2 - 4 months for her to make a full recovery.
Most of you know that we sold our home, found a new place and are in the process of moving. Sheesh… if moving, packing, cleaning, utilities & address changes for personal and business wasn't enough, it's also my fiscal year end.
That's enough for anyone's plate.
I don't usually mix personal and business in my newsletter. The only problem is, my personal life has overwhelmed me, so my business must take a back seat.
It's due to these unforeseen circumstances, that I've closed the Dynamic Media Vault to new members and will be shutting it down on November 21 2009.
I just don't have the time to dedicate myself to it. My family comes first. I hope you understand.
So if I don't seem my usual responsive self, answering dozens of help requests per day, now you know why. My focus for the coming weeks, is getting settled in the new place and nursing my best friend on earth back to health.
Thank you for all the kind words, thoughts, prayers and continuing support. I appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Epilogue:
Amy's home now. She's lost about 15 pounds (pretty hard considering she was only 110 to begin with). She's slowly recovering and looking much better than she did two weeks ago.
We sold our home and cashed out of the real estate market. We survived the real estate agents, bankers and lawyers. All the packing and address changes.
We got moved into the new place and the boxes are slowly disappearing. And somehow in the middle of all that, managed to prepare the fiscal year end for the accountant. Whew!
To the hundreds of people like you, who wrote in to inspire us with your thoughtfull comments and prayers, a BIG heart felt THANK YOU. I read Amy all your letters and we both appreciate the kindness you've shared.
Michael

No human being deserves the horrible nightmare you and Amy endured (especially her).
Good luck in your new place!
