Life is All About Persuasion

It really doesn’t matter if you’re trying to get hotel guests to recycle their towels, get a child to bed on time, or get someone to buy your ebooks, it’s all about persuasion.

You might tell me that you’re afraid of selling. Why should you be?

If you’ve ever persuaded someone to meet at a certain time, or to go to a different restaurant, or watch this movie instead of that one, you were selling. You were persuading the other person to take your desired course of action.

It’s no different on your website or blog, you want the visitor to take some sort of action. Maybe you do CPA offers and want them to fill out a form. Maybe you want them to subscribe to your newsletter, or make a donation.

It’s never too late to start reading. To create your personal library of marketing classics, proven advertising campaigns, and learn the science of persuasion.

Start your collection with; “Yes! 50 Scientifically Ways to Be Persuasive” by Robert Cialdini, “Tested Advertising Methods” by John Caples and the Wizard of Ads podcast series.

Better yet… get yourself down to the longest running internet marketing conference on the planet and submerge yourself in a learning environment, while making new friends. Just the networking alone is priceless.

Great post & website. I’ve been reading about persuasion myself the other day & it’s a skill that I really need to perfect. If you can make your words sell, you’re pretty much there when it comes to internet marketing. You have to think in terms of what your potential buyer wants…
